Good news for all Digifakt users! From the end of May 2025 we will offer support for Peppol, the secure European network for electronic invoicing.
This means that your invoices can be sent and received even faster and more efficiently.

First of all: what is Peppol?
Peppol (short for Pan-European Public Procurement On-Line) is a European network that helps exchange digital documents, such as invoices. It was founded in 2008 and one of its biggest advantages is that it is a secure network.
This ensures that these documents can be sent securely, regardless of what software or systems the sender or recipient uses.
It connects businesses and governments for secure and standardized e-invoicing. The system ensures that invoices are sent directly to the right recipient, without errors and without having to send emails with attachments.
The benefits of Peppol
Peppol has several advantages for both the sender (in this case, for example, Digifakt) and the recipient.
Higher security - security is one of the biggest advantages of Peppol. Invoices are sent securely and encrypted, without the risk of interception or fraud. Also, everyone who uses the Peppol network must identify themselves.
As a recipient, you know that the invoices come from the correct sender. Documents cannot be intercepted, which can happen with e-mails, for example.
Faster processing – invoices are delivered digitally immediately.
Current insight - the sender has better current insight into the payments. The invoices are directly in the accounting, which means that the administration is automatically updated
Fewer errors – because invoices are exchanged automatically, it no longer happens that an invoice with personal data ends up with the wrong person.
In addition, it is important to know that Peppol currently only applies to invoicing between companies (B2B) and governments (B2G).
Invoices between private individuals and companies (B2C) are therefore not covered by Peppol's obligations.
Who is Peppol mandatory for?
In the Netherlands and Belgium, Peppol is mandatory for electronic invoicing to the government. From 1 January 2026, the Belgian government also wants the B2B market to invoice via the Peppol network.
